Accuracy testing was conducted from the bench at 100 yards, firing three 3-shot groups with each type of ammo. The rifle really shined with the Black Hills 175-gr. Match ammo, producing its best group of .686 inch measured center to center. However, I was more impressed with the Hornady 150-gr. SST load, which yielded a best group of .834 inch. Even though the Hornady’s best group .145” larger, it is a proven one-shot killer on deer-sized game. Overall, POF’s 1 MOA accuracy claim is certainly met or exceeded with most ammo types.
Disassembly was simple and will be familiar to any AR enthusiast. Pull the rear takedown pin and remove the bolt carrier group and charging handle. You will note that the front takedown pin is locked to prevent “retrofitting” and meet the requirements for the states that require that feature. The bolt carrier group comes apart in the usual fashion, except there is a spring between the bolt and the carrier to ensure positive lockup. The cam also sports a roller helping it to fall into battery each and every time. The entire group is NP3 coated so it doesn’t take more than a wipe with a dry cloth to clean it up after firing. The ReVolt cleans like any other AR, so feel free to use your favorite cleaner and accessories on the bore and rest of the action.
Overall I was very pleased with the rifle and can definitely see some very specific uses for it. I found it very pleasant to shoot, and it certainly won’t be a disappointing purchase.
I most especially enjoyed the spirit of the gun. Companies making firearms directed at circumventing unconstitutional laws should be held in high regard. It’s often not profitable to produce firearms for such a small demographic—those of us living in the Democratic People’s Republics of the U.S.—and I commend POF for designing such an innovative and functional work-around.
