Those of us who reload have come to regard Starline brass as the industry standard. Starline recently installed state-of-the-art case-neck annealing machinery that permits the manufacture any bottle-necked rifle cartridge, and they are rolling out new cases faster than we can keep up with them. Their newest is the increasingly popular 6.5 Grendel—designed by Bill Alexander—the most powerful cartridge compatible with the AR-15 platform, which makes the .223 Rem. and 6.8 Rem. SPC look like kiddie time. I have a 6.5 Grendel upper an ordered up 200 cases for evaluation. I checked every one with a caliper for SAAMI overall length, and dropped every one into and overall length/headspace gauge to check for SAMMI spec compliance. Every case passed both tests, but it’s my practice to resize, trim, chamfer and debur new cases. I fired 100+ of those reloads and everything turned out just as I expected—perfect.
