G9 Defense Subsonic 9mm ($36.99 per 20 rd. box)
It has been very interesting for us to watch (and test) the development and expansion of traditionally constructed jacketed hollow point projectiles that rely on expansion versus high-tech computer-generated, solid-copper fluted projectiles that disperse fluids to rapidly incapacitate—thought-provoking times.
Boutique ammunition manufacturer G9 Defense has recently introduced a 126-grain subsonic 9mm round specifically engineered with suppressor use in mind. The projectile features four parabolic flutes engineered to enhance effectiveness and limit penetration. Precision machined from solid copper, it optimizes kinetic energy transfer to the target while significantly reducing felt recoil, similar to G9’s EHP’s light-for-caliber design. There are a lot of advantages to this type of round when paired with a suppressor (a biggie is zero risk of jacket separation), such as B&T’s wiped Hush Puppy suppressor system, which is also featured here.
