The new XTR II 1-8x24mm riflescope from Burris ($1,199) is deserving of and Editors; Choice Award because of it 8X magnification range in itself. Built on the 34mm main tube machined from aerospace-grade aluminum hard anodized in matte black, it is available in your choice of front focal plane or rear focal plane reticles, each with a specially designed illuminated reticle. It provides true 1X magnification for optimal situational awareness and accurate, both-eyes-open shooting, while its maximum 8X magnification provides excellent target acquisition at longer ranges. The Ballistic Circle Dot reticle, located in the front focal plane, features milradian measurements, an illuminated outer circle with small illuminated center dot and trajectory compensation out to 600 yards.
The Ballistic Dot reticle, set in the rear focal plane, is also graduated in milradians, and offers a daylight-bright illuminated center dot and trajectory compensation out to 1,000 yards.
