We test and suppress the latest in .450 Bushmaster brush bulldozer’s
Co-developed by Hornady and Bushmaster, the .450 Bushmaster cartridge was designed to chamber in standard AR-15 platforms and is an effective medium- to big-game killer at ranges out to around 200 yards. The rimless case with rebated rim fires .452” diameter bullets and is about 0.40” shorter than the .45-70, but gives up only about 100 f.p.s. in muzzle velocity, running at an average of 2,200 f.p.s.
The .450 Bushmaster is chambered in rifles and pistols made by Rock River Arms, Springfield Armory, Mossberg, Windham Weaponry, Bushmaster and others, is now loaded by a number of ammo makers and is legal for hunting in many states that permit use of straight-walled-only centerfire cartridges. All different in execution, but all extremely-effective deer/hog/bear, etc. hunting platform’s, here are three of the latest big-bore-bruiser .450 Bushmaster firearms to consider for the 2019 fall-hunting season.
