Primary Weapons UXR ($2,650)
Modularity is the name of the game, and Primary Arms is playing a winning hand with its all-new UXR, kicking things off with its Xchange System that enables users to easily and affordably switch between calibers (.223 Wylde, 300BLK, and 308 Win. with new options coming in the future), barrel length, magwells, fire control housings, and forends, with the serialized upper receiver being the foundation. A modified long-stroke piston system offers exceptional reliability and reduced carbon fouling. The UXR retains a similar long-stroke piston system used in legacy PWS products but improved upon and engineered specifically for the UXR. An ambidextrous receiver is crafted from a single piece of 7075-T651 aluminum and gets a hard-anodized type III Class 2 Mil-Spec 8625 coating for durability. A folding stock with cheek and length-of-pull adjustments can be configured for either left- or right-side folding. A three-position adjustable gas system includes a dedicated suppressor setting. We think the new UXR is the most promising modular weapon system to hit the market to date — look for a full review shortly.
