Holosun SCS Carry
A premium optic option for your micro-compact carry pistol
In the last few years, we can’t think of any optic manufacturer more committed to the pistol-mounted mini-red-dot optic segment than Holosun, and in particular, options for today’s micro-compact carry guns. The company’s new SCS (Solar Charging Sight) Carry is another decisive step in that direction, and its combined features have won it a 2024 On Target Editors’ Choice Award.

One of the main attractions to the SCS Carry is its internal-rechargeable 20,000-hour battery, which, for all intents and purposes, can operate indefinitely via the optic’s top-mounted solar charging panel. No battery worries? We’re definitely on board with that. And if, for some reason, your battery does fail, as long as you have ambient light, Holosun’s “Solar Failsafe” technology will take over to keep the LED reticle lit.

Speaking of the reticle, the SCS carry has three built-in options to choose from: a 2 MOA dot, a 32 MOA circle with a 2 MOA center dot, and a stand-alone 32 MOA circle. The reticle is bright green — a color easier for the human eye to process — and brightness is controlled automatically during changing lighting conditions. Need a brighter reticle? You can override the auto-brightness for 30 minutes by toggling the single control button on the optic’s left side.
An extremely durable, CNC-milled 7075 T6 anodized aluminum housing features an enclosed emitter — meaning no dust, debris, lint, etc., will obstruct your reticle — and a large-for-size viewing window. The SCS Carry uses the Holosun K footprint for direct mounting to several handgun options, but an RMSC-to-K adapter plate is also included. The optic weighs a not-even-there 1.05 ounces.
We’ve tested the SCS Carry on HK’s new CC9 Micro 9mm over the past few months, and we have to say something we rarely do — we like everything about it. Skeptical about the automatic reticle intensity adjustment at first, the SCS Carry seemed to find just the right brightness for every situation.
