MDT Backcountry Bipod

MDT Backcountry Bipod ($299)

MDT is well known for its sturdy, heavy bipods favored by competitive shooters, but the company has now introduced a bipod that’s perfect for those looking for an ultra-lightweight bipod to pair with a mountain rifle. Tipping the scales at just five ounces, the MDT Backcountry Bipod is the lightest bipod MDT has ever made. MDT offers the bipod following its acquisition of MTNGear!, a New Zealand company specializing in lightweight products for hunters.

The featherweight Backcountry is made mostly of carbon fiber and titanium components, so it costs more than conventional, heavier bipods. The Backcountry has twist-lock legs providing height adjustment from 8.3 inches to 13.8 inches. The legs are sturdy, with no splay. A push button at the top of each leg lets you independently adjust each leg angle from 0-degree to 45-degree and 90-degree positions. The head swivels and provides a 25-degree cant.

MDT says the bipod is strong enough to work with large calibers, such as 300 PRC, and the feet are designed to work on all terrains. Attachment to a rifle is via Picatinny rail only. The bipod attaches and detaches with the push of a button. For more information, contact MDT; Tel.: (360) 922-3124; Web: www.mdttac.com.
