VACA Double-Dehydrated Jerky ($10.99)

Jerky fans, unless you’re willing to deal with a lifelong addiction, you’ll want to reconsider reading any further. While not exactly brand new, we just discovered what might have become our all-time favorite backcountry snack — VACA double dehydrated beef jerky.

Why double dehydrated, you ask? VACA jerky is unlike any jerky you’ve had in the past. Instead of what can oftentimes be a rubbery texture that leaves your jaw feeling like it just played a wind instrument for multiple hours, VACA’s double-dehydrating process leaves the meat with a crispy texture that literally breaks off in your mouth. Think of it as a jerky potato chip. Pair that with a heavily marbled (i.e., high fat content) meat, and you have a high-protein, low-carb, highly packable snack that melts in your mouth.

Available in classic, mild, and spicy — or a sampler pack of all three — we have yet to share VACA jerky with someone who couldn’t keep their hands off it.
