The new striker-fired, double-action FN 509 Midsize 9mm pistol ($649) offers the ideal combination of a 4-inch slide and barrel with a midsize frame, retaining full-sized pistol performance in an easily concealed package. It ships with an FN logo pistol case and two 15-round magazines (or 10-rounders if you live behind enemy lines), and is compatible with all FN 509 magazines with the use of a sleeve. The improved controls aid in manipulation, the improved texturing on the two included interchangeable backstraps provides better recoil management, and a new flatter-faced trigger allows for a more controllable trigger press and cleaner break. Other features include fully ambidextrous controls, external safety (or not, your choice), 3-dot luminescent sights, external extractor, loaded chamber indicator, front and rear slide cocking serrations, cold hammer-forged stainless-steel barrel with a recessed target crown and polished chamber and feed ramp. The polymer frame features replaceable steel frame/slide rails, enhanced grip texturing and a Picatinny rail under the dust cover.
