27 Nosler Cartridge

27 Nosler Cartridge

The .270 Win. has taken millions of medium and large game animals since its introduction in 1925, but the new 27 Nosler beats it hands down. Based on the 404 Jeffrey case, the 27 Nosler has a long leade for sleek, high ballistic coefficient, long ogive, ABLR and RDF style bullets. Loaded with a 150-gr. bullet, the 27 Nosler is a whooping 400 f.p.s. faster than the .270 Win., and 300 f.p.s. faster than the 270 WSM at the muzzle, which translates into an extra 800 ft. lbs. and 600 ft. lbs. extra muzzle energy respectively. At 500 yards, the 27 Nosler drops 11” less than the .270 Win. and 7” less than the 270 WSM. Nosler offers both loaded ammunition and bullets, and Nosler’s published load data shows attainable muzzle velocities over 3,400 f.p.s. with their 150 gr. AccuBond bullet.
