ALPS Ghost 20 EDC Pack ($150)

We’ve been using ALPS packs these last few years with great success and have found them to be ideal high-quality, multi-use offerings. The new Ghost 20 is a bit of a hybrid pack, suitable for use as a traditional backpack, briefcase, or messenger bag. We reviewed the Ghost 30 about a year ago and have found the 20-liter Ghost to be a more streamlined daypack, slightly smaller than the original.

Although the Ghost 20 was built to accommodate a laptop, books, documents, and other essentials for the mid-week office dweller — it’s business in the front and party in the back. The Ghost also features an integrated back panel designed to discreetly secure a handgun for those with a few more restrictions on work property. A hook and loop backer is fully customizable yet keeps your defensive handgun within easy reach.

Constructed of 500D nylon Cordura, the Ghost 20 features PU coating, making it highly water-resistant. Built-in and adjustable shoulder straps allow the Ghost 20 to be worn as a backpack, while a removable shoulder strap can be used for over-the-shoulder or cross-body carry. Additional features include an organizational front panel pocket, a large main compartment with a padded laptop/tablet sleeve sized to accommodate up to 16-inch laptops, side water bottle pockets, and a pass-through sleeve to attach to rolling luggage handles.
